Thanks for your comments. Let me give you a little personal encouragement if that's OK.

To know something and not DO it is really the same as not knowing it.

Choose to believe it right now and perform out of that belief. Change your language from "I can make a difference" to "I am making a difference". You already know how, you just need to give yourself permission to succeed. You deserve it!

Have an amazing week and if you would like some more help on the how then give me a shout. Cheers Grant

Re: What other people think of you is none of your business

Wow!! The greatest lesson I'm yet to learn.
I know this at an intellectual level but need to believe it at a deeper level. I know I can be 'successful' I know I can make a difference, I just need to figure out how!

Re: What am I really afraid of?

Any FEAR can be listed in one or more of the following 3 categories

1. Fear of NOT BEING ENOUGH

2. Fear of NOT BELONGING

3. Fear of NOT BEING LOVED

The key is to recognise which your fear fits into and then working out the root cause of the problem instead of looking for strategies to overcome the symptoms

Re: Many Roads Lead To The Same Destination

Thanks Grant. Wonderful reading. I have learned some similar lessons this year. While January got off to a slow start as I enjoyed myself travelling the world, I have more than made up for it during the last two weeks. I am learning more things about myself and my business every day, and really loving being back on my chosen path - writing and helping people. Looking forward to making February even better! Thanks again :-)

Re: Many Roads Lead To The Same Destination

Great post Grant. It always interesting to see that most of lifes learnings apply to both personal and business goals.

Thank you for sharing :)

Re: The Greatest Gift You Can Give Is To Yourself

Great message for the year ahead. Hadn't realised that you'd lost your mum and father in law. Good on you for filling your life with great mentors to help you refocus in tough times like these.

On another note I wanted to say thanks for your generosity and enthusiasm in reaching out to your network this year and sharing your knowledge and experience.

As I reflect on the past year. One of my challenges has been committing to using social media more effectively. For the past 4-5 weeks I've had intermittent internet access which meant I missed a couple of your teleconference calls. What I've learned while working through the frustration is that I haven't made use of this wonderful technology nearly enough to reach out into the world both to share my own pieces of knowledge and wisdom and in connecting to and creating a like minded community.

So thank you Grant for this opportunity to reflect and now refocus on my message and to relaunch that with vigour in 2012.

Have a wonderful Christmas with your family. Take care
Leonie

Re: Where do you hang your hammock?

Hi Grant, My hammock is a Venezuelan "Chinchorro", bought in Caracas in 1976, made from cotton it is suspended from two hooks on the north patio at my home in Murcia, Spain. It hangs from May to October shaded from the hot sun, yet enjoying a sea breeze. Some of my best thinking has been done there, as well as many wonderful siestas!
All my youngster visitor like to try the Hammock so maybe there is a whole new generation on the way.
Brian MacIver
BMAC sales consultants

Re: You have the business but do you have the balance?

Grant, I just love this! Love your message and the example your setting. It is so refreshing to hear a business owner who has their priorities in order. Sometimes we can allow ourselves to get so "busy" in our business that we forget why we started it in the first place. Keep up the great work you are doing in the west. Cheers Grant

Re: You have the business but do you have the balance?

Grant, I agree wholeheartedly with your article. The question 'For what purpose?' is an excellent one. I am in business for one reason that has many benefits and that is freedom. Freedom of expression, freedom of time, freedom to spend time with the ones I love when I want, freedom to be responsible for my own destiny and freedom of uncapped earning potential. The list goes on but what a great question to ask of yourself and others for clarity and direction.

Re: Putting More Horsepower into Goal Setting

Thanks Patty.
I've seen heaps of great leaders who aren't threatened by seeing those around them achieve their best. You sit up and take notice and realise that there are those who have lost absolutely everything, and yet we may be here complaining about what is currently facing us, which in the scheme of things is something quite minor. It is also nice to have just participated in an online auction which raised money for the people in Queensland and 100% of monies raised will be given to the Red Cross to distribute - it leaves a great feeling to have been associated with such a good cause, and to know that in some small way I have helped those in need. It's fantastic how Australians band together in the face of adversity. I am proud to be an Aussie!!!!

Re: Opportunity engages hope for the future

Grant, This is an excellent piece. It is a fact that despite 29% of Australians seeing professional training as the solution to improving their career progression, 1 in 4 Australians have never been offered the chance to undertake training by their workplace. So, what’s the net result? Recidivism – employees leave and move on to greener pastures. Fact is, if a company does not offer career progression, another company will. Staff training is essential for skill enhancement and maintaining staff morale and loyalty.

Re: Leading with a Servant Hand

Grant - thanks for reminding us that true perspective comes from making sure we focus on contributing to the lives of others. I am proud of the resilience and generosity of Australians. And I am also touched by the kinship of our US counterparts, who donated generously upon hearing of QLD's plight on a recent Oprah special. I am also glad for the effort and care people have shown towards the animals affected by the floods.
